Q-1 How does CellarBright™ system system differ from other line cleaning systems?
Other line cleaning systems replicate the traditional manual process. This method of cleaning lines is inefficient because it is time-based and relies on assumptions that the lines have been cleaned. There is no measurement of how contaminated the lines are so you waste your valuable time and cleaning solution. Equally concerning, is the risk that cleaning solution can remain in the lines at the end of the cycle. The CellarBright™ system is based on a different approach. We believe that the only way to ensure that the lines are free from all contaminants, including line cleaning solution, is to continuously monitor the fluid passing through the lines during the cleaning process. Our Automated system, does this.
-
Q-2 Is it easy to use?
The CellarBright™ automated beer line cleaning system is simple to operate. The equipment is pre-programmed and commissioned to work without the need for manual intervention. There are no programs to learn, and it provides you with information throughout the cycle to let you know what’s going on
-
Q-3 Will the Cellarbright™ system save me time and money?
Most certainly yes. It will enable you to save and sell 100% of the beer otherwise lost in a manual cleaning process. We have a simple calculator and will be pleased to advise how many thousands of pounds the CellaBrightT beer line cleaning system, can save you. Simply call us or complete the enquiry form and we will contact you.

Q-4 What causes beer line contamination?
Within the beer there are 4 basic elements; yeast, carbohydrates (sugars), proteins, and bacteria and as the beer is dispensed it causes a static charge on the positively charged side of the pipe.
These elements adhere to the bio film in the beer pipe and being ‘live’ product, the bacteria immediately start to feed on the elements and multiplication starts.
If line cleaning is not done the deposits from the bacteria start to cause the fobbing effect and eventually will continue to multiply, break off and enter the beer dispense causing lack of sparkle to start with quickly followed by cloudiness and severe off-flavours.
-
Q-5 Why does it matter if beer lines are dirty?
Hygiene is essential to prevent a food safety hazard. Dirty lines can cause cloudy beers with a poor flavour and can cause sickness. It’s important for customer satisfaction too that your beer meets high expectations and is of a consistent quality standard.
-
Q-6 How often should beer lines be cleaned?
The Food Safety Regulations (1995) classify Beer as a food, therefore beer cellars have to adhere to the same standards of hygiene as kitchens. Cleanliness of dispensing equipment is essential to maintain high quality standards. The Beer Quality and Safety Panel stress that the objective of line cleaning is to maintain a constant state of hygiene and not to wait for yeast to accumulate. The Best Practice guidance recommends the cleaning of beer and cider dispensing systems at least every seven days
-
Q-7 Are beer lines normally cleaned according to the guidelines?
Most Landlords ensure that their lines are contamination free and realise it is an important health and customer satisfaction standard. Cutting corners can cost money and lose valuable custom.
-
Q-8 What is the result of leaving cleaning solution in the lines for prolonged periods?
If it is left soaking for more than two hours flavour contamination may occur, and over time it may damage the lines.
-
Q-9 Is the cleaning solution hazardous?
If you do not follow to the manufacturer’s guidelines regarding dilution and handling the cleaning fluid can be hazardous. When manually cleaning lines you should always use protective clothing, goggles and gloves. Also, ensure that you add the detergent to the water – the reverse can result in severe burns. The CellarBright™ automated beer line cleaning system dispenses with the need for you to come into direct contact with the chemical as the system is fully automatic and only uses the amount of chemical needed, saving money.
-
Q-10 How long does the Cellarbright™system take to clean the lines?
On average the automated cleaning cycle can take as little as 7 minutes but the exact amount of time will depend upon the amount of contaminate in the lines
-
Q-11 What types of beer line can the system clean?
The CellarBright™ system can clean all beer, lager, cask ales, stout, and cider lines
-
Q-12 Will it interfere with the brewery’s equipment?
The system is completely standalone. The only connection is a feed from the mains water supply, and a connection to the drainage.
-
Q-13 What if there is a power failure?
When the power is switched back on the system will simply continue where it left off.
-
Q-14 Is it safe?
The user has no contact with cleaning solution or contaminated fluid, so the health and safety risks associated with manual cleaning are avoided.
-
Q-15 Will there be any cleaning solution remaining in the line?
Unlike manual cleaning methods and time-based line cleaning systems, the CellarBright™ automated beer line cleaning system will ensure that all cleaning solution is removed from the line. This is done by the final high pressure water purge to ensure there is no contamination left in the lines.
-
Q-16 Will the system still operate if I run out of cleaning solution during the cycle?
Unlike many other systems, the CellarBright™ system has intelligent sensors in the chemical container, which inform the controller to stop the system. At this point the system informs the user and waits for them to replace the cleaning solution bottle before completing the cycle. Once replaced, the system will resume with the clean.
-
Q-17 Some systems allow you to manually pull beer at the end of the cycle, can I do this?
Yes, of course. The CellarBright™ system has a manual override for all of the main functions.
